The Monad public testnet is now live, offering an array of experiences for users from day one [00:00:00].
Accessing the Monad Testnet [00:00:11]
Users can access the testnet via testnet.monad.xyz [00:00:15]. For existing Monad community members, an alternative entry point is monadtestnet.phantom.me for a Phantom wallet experience [00:00:20].
Connecting Your Wallet [00:00:36]
To begin, connect your wallet to the testnet [00:00:36]. Some wallets provide native testnet support, while others may require manual network addition [00:00:40]. Manual addition is simplified by a button that auto-adds the testnet to MetaMask or other compatible wallets in one step [00:00:47].
Obtaining Testnet Tokens [00:01:02]
Testnet tokens are available through the faucet [00:01:04]. Users can paste their public address into the faucet and click “Get Testnet MOD” [00:01:10]. The amount claimable will vary based on certain parameters, and the faucet refreshes throughout the day [00:01:17].
Making Your First Trade [00:01:29]
Once testnet MOD tokens are acquired, users can make their first trade [00:01:29]. Three meme coins are available:
- The House of Mandac [00:01:37]
- The House of Makaki [00:01:37]
- The House of Chog [00:01:39]
These coins can be bought directly on the landing page, powered by Blinks by Dialect and Uniswap [00:01:44].
Exploring Featured Apps and the Ecosystem Directory [00:02:07]
The testnet features a multitude of experiences from day one [00:02:07]:
Spotlighted Applications [00:02:10]
- Fantasy Top: A tournament is scheduled to begin the day after the testnet launch [00:02:12].
- Featured Apps: A selection of applications are prominently displayed on the main landing page [00:02:18], including:
- Rare Bet Sports 42 [00:02:23]
- KY Kuru [00:02:25]
- Curv [00:02:25]
- ANS [00:02:25]
Ecosystem Directory [00:02:31]
Below the featured apps, an ecosystem directory is available and will be continuously updated throughout the testnet phase [00:02:31]. This directory serves as the primary resource for discovering new apps and experiences on the Monad public testnet [00:02:41]. Users are encouraged to frequently check this page for new opportunities [00:02:48].
Testnet Purpose and Community Involvement [00:03:00]
The testnet’s purpose is to deploy and test new app experiences in a lower-stakes, lower-risk environment [00:03:00]. Users are encouraged to:
- Try out many dApps (decentralized applications) [00:02:58]
- Provide feedback to the development teams [00:02:58]
- Join communities to participate in the growing momentum around Monad and its ecosystem projects [00:03:10]
Opportunity for Community Contribution [00:03:17]
Community members are encouraged to get active and build, regardless of their skill set [00:03:17]. Whether one is an artist, a technical expert, a developer, a video creator, or a “spaces yapper,” there is an opportunity to emerge as a thought leader [00:03:20]. The Monad ecosystem offers a place and significant opportunities for everyone [00:03:32].
